About

The club was founded in 1888, and has a long history in the sport and indeed in the area. In 1953 and in 2015 the club won the sports most prestigious competition, the Camanachd Cup. Balgate Park, Kiltarlity has long been home to the Lovat team.

Traditionally competing in the north area leagues over the years, Lovat have maintained their premier league status since 2006. The reserve mens team compete in North Division 1, and is a great arena for the youth players to blossom. Youth shinty has always been an important aspect of the club and we currently have U12s, U12 girls, U14s and U17s, with  comprehensive player pathways and a coaching setup with well qualified coaches.

The new ladies’ section has added a new dimension to the club with further opportunities for shinty in the village. Lovat Ladies have achieved considerable success in the short time they have been in existence.

The club draws a weekly lottery for fundraising and holds various fundraising events throughout the year.

Sponsorship is very important to the running of the club, whether by sponsoring the various team strips or via advertising boards round the field. Many of our sponsors are small local businesses and we are very appreciative of the continuing support of all our sponsors.  Our current sponsors can be seen here.
