As we expected, a real hard match down in Caol in the semi final of the Mactavish.
On a wet and windy day, we played some decent shinty early doors, and went into an early lead through a Lorne strike from distance. The game then ebbed and flowed with us possibly having the majority of the game until we went 2-0 up a couple of minutes before the interval courtesy of an Owen strike.
In the second half, there were a few chances for either side, but Kilmallie upped the pressure and scored late on. However, we managed to hold out for the win due to some “backs to the wall” defending until the final whistle sounded.
Onwards now to the final at the Bught in mid June. Something new for all of us ,and our first MacTavish final since the seventies.
Saturday was not our best performance of the year, but the end justifies the means. Credit too, to a battling display by Kilmallie ,who competed well on a day when the weather possibly didn’t help either side in what was a soaking experience -especially for supporters- roll on summer shinty…
