The big game of the weekend was at the Eilan, with ourselves and 2nd placed More( both with 100% records) fighting it out.
The first half was a bit of a non event for us with champions More holding the bulk of the play ,with the advantage of a wicked cross wind. However we held out comfortably with few shots heading Stuarts way of any trouble.
The second half was a more even affair, and in 54 minutes Lewis slipped the ball through to Kevin whose low hard shot eluded the More keeper and hit the back of the net.
The home team raised the tempo and placed us under a fair bit of pressure, but our defence remained calm and committed and kept them at bay- albeit with a bit of help from the post and a couple of cracking saves from Stuart.
In the 83rd minute a classic counter attack brought the second goal. A clearance from Craig found Lorne who turned his man and played a great through ball for Kevin to collect and slip past the on-rushing keeper.
The game was then played out, and a hard fought 2points were well won.
Well done to all the lads who showed real character and committment to the cause, and a big thank you to the large travelling support who i’m sure would have left the game with a smile on their face. 🙂
