The Tomnacross Primary team have reached the MacKay Cup final for the first time in 21 years. They last won it in 2002 when they beat Lochgilphead Primary at Mossfield, Oban. Daniel Grieve was the captain on that occasion and Martin Mainland won the Anne Cameron Quaich for Player of the Match. (Martin holds the quaich in the photo below). You will see a few other well-kent Lovat stars-to-be in the team list too! Unfortunately the only photograph we can find is a bit on the fuzzy side. Tomnacross was the first primary school to include girls at competitive level and you will see two girls in this line-up from 2002. Girls also feature in the current team.
Tomnacross will meet Rockfield Primary from Oban with the game scheduled for 11.00 a.m. on 10th June at the Bught Park, Inverness, ahead of the MacTavish Juvenile and Senior finals. Tomnacross families, Lovat players and supporters will be out in force to support the youngsters on the day.
