Weekend review and preview

The ladies team got off to a winning start in the new North Division 2 with a 5-4 win against Strathglass at Balgate on Sunday. Everyone at the club would like to wish Paige MacDonald a speedy recovery after her club debut ended with an early injury.

Both mens teams unfortunately succumbed to strong performances from Kinlochshiel at Balgate and were unable to secure any points. The reserve team had lots of possession in the first half thanks to a strong wind but were unable to score, and this wind worked against us in the second half where ‘shiel began to get a hold of the game and ran out 4-0 winners in the end.

The senior team had a 2-1 lead at half time but Kinlochshiel pressure paid off in the second half and the MacRae brothers were on top form to sink Lovat’s chance of securing a win. The game finished 5-2 in the end and Lovat will be looking to step up their performance for next week.

The 1’s are home to Lochaber who have drawn their two opening games 1-1 and will be looking to build on their 4th place finish in last years Premiership. 2.30pm Balgate.

The 2’s are away to Strathglass and will be looking to bounce back from last weekends defeat. 2.30pm Cannich.

There will also be ladies shinty at Balgatge on Sunday in the form of the All-Stars, with a match vs Badenoch & Strathspey.
